Syrian Patriarchate of Antioch
The Syrian Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East represents one of the most historically distinguished and universally documented apostolic successions in Christendom. Originating according to ancient tradition with Saint Peter the Apostle in Antioch (circa 37–43 A.D.), this Eastern current survived centuries of historical shifts under the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchs.
In 1892, through formal patriarchal bull and mandate from Ignatius Peter III (Boutros Ibn Salmo Mesko), Patriarch of Antioch, this tactile current was transmitted into the Western Hemisphere through the consecration of Archbishop Joseph René Vilatte (Mar Timotheus I) in Colombo, Ceylon. This historic transmission subsequently integrated directly into the French Gnostic revival under Patriarch Jean Bricaud in 1913, and concurrently through the English Pre-Nicene lines of Richard, Duc de Palatine and Bishop Stephan A. Hoeller, converging into the Canadian See of Bishop +Carl Emmanuel and the sacerdotal descent of Tau Cerinthus III.
The Modern Antiochene Transmission to the West (1877–1913)
While ancient chroniclers in the Antiquitates Antiochenae record 125 successive Patriarchal bishops descending from Saint Peter to Ignatius James II (1847), the modern transmission into the independent sacramental currents of the West begins with the reign of Patriarch Ignatius Peter III:

Descent into the North American Gnostic See
Following the 1913 integration by Patriarch Jean Bricaud, this Syrian-Antiochene current passed down through the foundational French bishops of the Église Gnostique Apostolique (EGA) and the Caribbean mission of Bishop Roger Pommery:
- Victor Alfred Blanchard (Tau Targelius): Consecrated May 15, 1918 by Bricaud.
- Roger Ménard (Tau Eon II): Consecrated January 7, 1945 by Blanchard.
- Robert Ambelain (Tau Jean III): Consecrated June 10, 1946 by Ménard (Bishop of Samaria; World Patriarch of the EGA).
- Roger Pommery (Tau Jean): Consecrated May 26, 1958 by Ambelain as Titular Bishop of Macheronte for the Americas and Caribbean Missions.
- Archbishop +Charles Nurse (Tau Charles): Succeeded to the primacy of the Gnostic Church of the Glorious Christ in Barbados.
- Bishop +Carl Emmanuel (Tau Cerinthus II): Metropolitan Bishop of Canada, who received and preserved this lineage in Toronto.
Dual Convergence via the 1991 Concordat
In 1991, during the landmark College of Métropolitains Concordat convened under the authority of French Patriarch René Chambellant (Tau Renatus) and coordinated by Primate Robert M. Cokinis (Tau Charles Harmonius II), this Antiochene current received a profound mutual reinforcement:
The Most Rev. +Stephan A. Hoeller (Tau Stephanus I) of the Ecclesia Gnostica brought an independent collateral transmission of the identical Vilatte succession into the synod. Hoeller's line descended from Archbishop Vilatte through the English Pre-Nicene succession:

On February 8, 2003, following a four-year personal mentorship in Toronto, Bishop +Carl Emmanuel ordained +Jeremy Crow to the Holy Priesthood within the Gnostic Church of the Glorious Christ, formally transmitting the full validity of this Syrian-Antiochene stream.
With his episcopal consecration within the Gnostic Union, publicly commemorated September 25, 2026, as Tau Cerinthus III, this unbroken succession from Ignatius Peter III and Joseph René Vilatte remains an integral canonical component of the Canadian See of Cerinthus and the Gnostic Temple of the Morning Star.
